Precious and her family members are invisible to the larger macrocosm because they dont posses any skill that enables them to make even the slightest struggle in the world. The tests that Precious take show her lack of intelligence and single amplify her inferiority to the people around her. When youre invisible, nobody treats you with observe in the beginning of the book, everyone treats Precious like worthless trash. Though, later, she becomes visible once more through the people she meets at the alternative school, and the birth of her second baby, Abdul.The both authors, the author of Push and the author of Invisible Man, both use the fable of invisibility to describe their main characters, but do so in different ways. In Push, Precious is invisible because of her inferiority to her peers and her lack of education. She struggles to kick downstairs love and acceptance. However, in Invisible Man, the main character considers himself socially invisible, not being able to have a say in anything he does or any argument, despite the numerous rallies and protests that he performs speeches at.
